Sons of Walrus, heaps better photos on a white background! Oh, and offering commissioning now.

Holla, I've been asked a few times about doing some commission work for people and I thought, shit, why the hell not! So I've started up this site:  http://jack0284.wixsite.com/website  I've been fixing work for people for a bit now from some other commission painters and I know I can offer a better service than that. I'm working part time until the end of the year too now so I will have a bit of time up my sleeve to smash work out for clients. I'm going to update the blog section of that in tandem with this, using that page as more of a gallery of what I can do with miniatures and terrain. Also, ventured out into the big brave world of white backgrounds for that GW spec floating model look and I think it actually shows off my work on the dark green bodies of the SoH a lot better than the black backdrops did! Sons of Horus - 10 man Reaver Squad Completed and an Army Shot

Evening all, Sons of Horus Reaver Assault Squad These guys took a lot longer than I expected to finish them but I'm super stoked! Sons of Horus Reaver Assault Squad I couldn't quite get the photos right in terms of lighting and exposure, I think I will change out for a standard black or white backdrop in the future as I have had good results with both previously. Sons of Horus Reaver Assault Squad The bodies of these guys are airbrushed black up to grey, the chin component of the helmets and jump packs were done the same green as the Vets and the shoulder pads have a red fade on them. I was trying to emulate what I had seen done by the studio before and though it looked pretty quirky after the airbrushing, it toned down significantly with the rest of the paint-work. 1350pts Sons of Horus Army So I seem to be painting one unit a month at the moment with a bit of hobby stuff around the sides. I might take a break from these dudes and paint up a Zon...

Sons of Horus - Customised/Themed Leviathan Siege Dread Showcase

Hey y'all, Pretty stoked with this, I spent a good 5 hours on it this afternoon to try and match the aesthetic of the Forge World Legion Contemptor and the Reavers/Justaerin. I trimmed down square styrene rod for the studs, made a few mirror coins from GS, added some skulls on chain and Forge World brass etch. I accidentally covered up what I found out later were the frag assault launchers with skulls, Will Hayes (hell of a designer!) filled me in on that after I had already done the work with a scalpel and some superglue.. I thought they were bloody headlights as I had seen a few guys paint them up with OSL. Anyway, I feel that it's really come together and with some paint, will look like it was meant to be this way, it was pointed out too by Will that it looks like he's on a rollerskate with the wrecked Rapier, haha.. I can't unsee it now, but I still like the base, adds a lot of character. Which legion should I paint up the Rapier for? I don't specifically ...

500pts Sons of Horus for Zone Mortalis Done!

My last photos of the Apothecary and Chaplain were a little over exposed but I'll leave them up anyway as they still look ok, this is a lot more akin to how they actually look in real life (on my monitor at least), dark and gritty. Pretty happy with how it's all coming along. I was 5 days late on my monthly pledge for the global escalation league but I am stoked with the achievement considering how much I work each week and I don't think I have ever managed to paint that much in a month before. Sons of Horus Contemptor Mortis Showcase

Finished my first dude for the new SoH army, a dual Kheres wielding Contemptor Mortis! I have spent the last few months working far too much and just concentrated on trying to get a lot of stuff built so I could stat gaming, unfortunately I have to miss out on the first local tournament here but that meant I could slow down a bit and shoot for more than a 3 colour minimum on each model. Redscorps origins and the Red Scorpions Chapter.

Hi!  You might remember me, I'm Redscorps. I quit the hobby after a bit of drama in the real world, sold up the Red Scorpions army you see below and didn't think much of it at all between 2011 and now. I've been quite restless, I went and worked in the desert again, I backpacked around Europe hiking for some months, did an inter-country cycling trip and broke my ankle and tore some ligaments quite badly playing Gridiron which has sort of put me on my ass again over the last year.  My first real army and my first go at painting and converting the stuff you see below came from a fractured C2 vertebrae (and other misc injuries) and a fair bit of time away from sports, so it's kind of fitting that I'm back in now. I figured out how to paint, then figured out how to paint a little better, was inspired by Phil and Mark from Forgeworld's studio to paint better again and apply some more realistic effects to the models (still not a shade on those guys!). I...
