Sons of Horus - Customised/Themed Leviathan Siege Dread Showcase

Hey y'all, Pretty stoked with this, I spent a good 5 hours on it this afternoon to try and match the aesthetic of the Forge World Legion Contemptor and the Reavers/Justaerin. I trimmed down square styrene rod for the studs, made a few mirror coins from GS, added some skulls on chain and Forge World brass etch. I accidentally covered up what I found out later were the frag assault launchers with skulls, Will Hayes (hell of a designer!) filled me in on that after I had already done the work with a scalpel and some superglue.. I thought they were bloody headlights as I had seen a few guys paint them up with OSL. Anyway, I feel that it's really come together and with some paint, will look like it was meant to be this way, it was pointed out too by Will that it looks like he's on a rollerskate with the wrecked Rapier, haha.. I can't unsee it now, but I still like the base, adds a lot of character. Which legion should I paint up the Rapier for? I don't specifically ...

500pts Sons of Horus for Zone Mortalis Done!

My last photos of the Apothecary and Chaplain were a little over exposed but I'll leave them up anyway as they still look ok, this is a lot more akin to how they actually look in real life (on my monitor at least), dark and gritty. Pretty happy with how it's all coming along. I was 5 days late on my monthly pledge for the global escalation league but I am stoked with the achievement considering how much I work each week and I don't think I have ever managed to paint that much in a month before. Sons of Horus Showcase, Chaplain and Apothecary Completed

I've signed up to 'The Scouring of þungur Metallikos' Global heresy escalation league on Facebook, my pledge for June was to start off the Sons of Horus with 500pts of Marines and a Contemptor Mortis. I've got a 10 man tac squad to finish off this week and get my 3 Zone Mortalis games in before the end of the month but it's definitely going to get done. My list is: Legion Centurion - Chaplain *Artificer Armour, Crozius (Axe), Refractor Field, Melta Bombs Legion Apothecary Contemptor Mortis Dreadnought *Two Kheres Pattern Assaultcannons Legion Tactical Squad (10) *Sergeant: Power Sword, Melta Bombs Sons of Horus Legion Centurion Chaplain Sons of Horus Legion Centurion Chaplain Sons of Horus Legion Centurion Chaplain Sons of Horus Legion Centurion Chaplain Sons of Horus Legion Apothecary Sons of Horus Legion Apothecary Sons of Horus Legion Centurion Chaplain, Apothecary and Contemptor Mortis

Sons of Horus Contemptor Mortis Showcase

Finished my first dude for the new SoH army, a dual Kheres wielding Contemptor Mortis! I have spent the last few months working far too much and just concentrated on trying to get a lot of stuff built so I could stat gaming, unfortunately I have to miss out on the first local tournament here but that meant I could slow down a bit and shoot for more than a 3 colour minimum on each model. Hive Fleet Behemoth Tyrannofex Showcase

This will be the last one for a while from the spawning ponds. I'm going elbow deep into the Horus Heresy from now until I have a solid 2.5k completed for them as the local scene is really picking up and the game system is a lot stronger than 40k. Shelving this project is kinda good actually, I feel like the last two models I have painted for the nids have been a massive drag and taken me far too long for the outcome. That said, I'm petty happy with this bloke and the Malanthrope completed before it, the whole force looks pretty shit hot on the table with the pearl blue over red and bases done up. Tyrannofex tripping on Acid I'm not convinced that anyone is actually checking in, but I'll be back with some assembled Sons of Horus marines and stuff in a couple weeks/month. Nids - Benched.

Got some battles in today! Yeiw.

I play once a fortnight against the same two dudes usually and we have added a 4th to the group, a few of us could get together today for some games on our usual 'off' weekend. The Nids went very well actually, I was pretty worried about the match up against the Orks but the devourers honoured their name on every unit sporting them and put so many wounds on it was almost unfair. Off camera are the Children of Cryptus and a Lictor on the right. A Tyrannocyte and a Tyrannofex are about to deepstrike and i the corner to the left the Crone has just melted some Deffkoptas, at this point I thought for sure I was cooked, luckily the bubble wrap of gants kept me safe until it was my turn again. It was shit hot to play an almost fully painted army against another fully painted army, it added to the experience a whole heap. The game was called on turn 3, I'd just done too much damage with only the two Battlewagons and a Dakkajet remaining from the Ork force.

Showcase: Hive Fleet Behemoth Malanthrope

I hated painting this model.. Normally not something I would say about the amazing sculpts from Forge World but I was stuck in a quagmire when it came to getting it done, there was just something about it.. In the end I actually painted it completely twice, just because I wasn't happy with the finish the first time so I just re-primed the thing and started again over the top. Now, I am happy enough with the results, the Malanthrope looks pretty grim, all covered in gore and juice as it picks its way around the battlefield farming the corpses of the fallen. Anyway, I'm really glad it's done, its got a hell of a lot of utility on the battlefield!
